Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam- It's all smoke and mirrors!

 As the very characteristic of Jose Pellissery to pull the wool over audience eyes, all seems to be in a dilemma to interpret the movie in their own terms.To some, it's figment of one's imagination, some say it's  reincarnation of a soul  in to a living body, yet another thought, its the dramma company's yet another drama staged.A nap can be a nightmare...!

 In the movie as the title suggests, everything revolve around the  'afternoon nap'(Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam). Thirukkural  qoute "death is sinking in to slumbers deep. Birth again is waking out of sleep" aptly used to substantiate the essence of the movie and to cement the thought in to audience mind. The actors and camera did justice to the cause...

 The versatile actor was given ample space to stretch his acting skills and  was very much in his element...

 For an average audience, the movie seems to be  set on a week thread and at times so dragging as you find counting the footsteps of Mammootty when he walks in to the village...!

 Fans  who came to watch brilliance from Pellissery and Mammootty and the blend of the duo, caught unawares, were mimicking Mammootty's dialogue at the end in disappointment "njan intha nattukaranalla" ( I don't belong to this place either)...!

 A major chunk of spectators w ere cautious to express anything, in the fear that they will be caught on the wrong foot, if the movie gets nominated for Oscar...!

 Let's call a spade a spade.You can't blame someone for rating it as an  ordinary attempt, which is so unlikely of a renowed director like him.Honestly, it's a flight of fancy...

    A combination of 'known to be the best refined actor' in the state and a cut above director, evoked an expectation unparalleled, as everyone believed that they would raise the bar, as always the case...     Ironically, the movie fell apart to call forth any interest, though the versatile actor with his screen presence did reasonably well. One could evidently see the flaws in editing in the first fight seen itself and throughout, in an attempt to present Valiban as superhuman...    In the storyline, some indigestable elements creeped in. One has to gulp, when Kalari veeran, who gave Vaaliban a run for money was killed by the cowardly main villain, just by a stab. In another instance, the entire group of soldires were bewildered to see Valiban unleashing his power, keeping their guns idle, to see him regain power, only to smash them at a later stage   One can't be blamed for doubting  it's a bit dragging.Some dialogues invited mockery from audie...

Like,  Dislike or Something in between...  Much affected by media hype and quench for big movie experience in the wide screen, triggered to occupy slots in the first day itself. The anticipation was such that anything ordinary wouldn't quench the thirst...  The only enthusiasm in the first half an hour is to observe Pranav Mohanlal, to see if we have a superstar in the making, as a successor to his father...  Director Priyadarsan in a naive attempt to narrate the historical aspects in its accuracy, with hive of activity, overlooked the entertainment aspect altogether, which is very unlikely of him as he is well known for some of the all time hits...  Many of the fights scenes  left the audience in dilemma to what's happening as the darkness and speed of the reel were overwhelming...Even two songs played in short interlude posed as if they were superimposed and out of place.
